Tips for Moving with Pets
How a Local Moving and Storage Service Provider Can Accommodate All Your Pet’s Needs
Moving is stressful not only for humans but for pets too. Your pet can get stressed out pretty easy when there is unexpected activity in their homes. They can get anxious when your local moving and storage service providers start packing and moving your things. But, there are many ways to make the moving process less stressful for both you and your pets. Here are a few tips.
Make sure you pack an easily-accessible overnight kit for your pet. This kit must contain enough food, kitty litter, grooming tools, and toys to sustain your pets and keep them comfortable during the first couple of days in the new home.
Those of you who are moving out of the area should take records and any prescription medications from your pet’s vet. You can also ask for recommendations for a good vet in your new area.
Pets (especially dogs) can get quite nervous during the moving day. The best way to avoid this is to have a friend or family member take your pet for a walk during the moving process. If this is not possible, then at least make sure you empty a room for your pet. The farther you keep them from the action, the better. Plus, your local moving and storage service providers can do their job properly without having to worry about your dog or other pets you may have.
We highly recommend that you transport your pets yourself. They can get quite stressed in a moving truck. So, take them with you in your car. Use a pet carrier or kennel so that your pet will be safe during the entire trip. If your four legged friend is not used to traveling in a car, then you can cover the kennel with a blanket. They will feel better if they don’t see the environment changing outside.
